Pipes and Pints were founded in 2006 by Vojta Kalina (Scottish bagpipes/vocals) and Tomáš Novotný, who shared a dream of a band which would combine punk rock, dirty folk and country music with a passion for rock’n’roll. A solid core of Pipes and Pints was created with the arrival of Lukáš Vincour, Ondra Balvín and American Syco Mike who, because of the newly created band, decided to abandon his plans for a return from Austria to California and relocate to Prague instead. Seeing their insatiable thirst for performing in concerts, nobody had any doubts about how serious Pipes and Pints were about their music. If a further proof was still needed, it came in the form of the EP recorded in December 2008, which was met with a great reception and the Pipes, soon after, introduced it to the world. During their first tours, Pipes managed to play dozens of concerts as well as perform as an opening act for bands such as Social Distortion, Deadline, The Old Firm Casuals nebo Mad Sin.
For the recording of their second album, the band invited Darian Randall, a Californian producer, who has worked with bands such as Pennywise, US Bombs or Suicidal Tendencies. Pipes & Pints’ newly released ‘Found and Lost’ led to an abundance of articles and write-ups in Czech as well as foreign press. But more importantly, it met with a great reception by the fans and led to sold out Czech, German, Polish and Austrian tours. The new album also earned Pipes and Pints recognition by the Academy of Music Awards Anděl (Angel), which awarded ‘Found and Lost’ an Angel for the best record of 2012 in the punk/hardcore category. The concert schedule is full again for this year. The band recently returned from a successful tour of Europe and there is no need to unpack, as a busy summer festival season awaits, abroad as well as at home.
